St Mary's College draws deeply on Christian values and the spirit of Mercy.
A focus on Pastoral Care supports the development, growth and wholeness of each student. Students are encouraged to achieve their goals and strive for high standards with emphasis placed on learning the skills of self-discipline, reliability, responsibility, empowerment and self-worth.
A sense of community and involvement permeates through the teaching process and parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate and support their daughters in all school activities.

The house system used at St Mary's provides the opportunity for each student to develop friendships throughout the college, and engenders a healthy spirit of competition through all facets of college life.
Leadership skills are fostered throughout the school liturgical celebrations, special character activities and sports. Senior students work alongside staff in leadership roles. The progress and well-being of each student is followed by the Principal, Deputy and Assistant Principal, Deans, and Class Teachers with the support of a Guidance Counsellor, Career Advisor and Ancillary staff.
The Pastoral Care at St Mary's provides students with a sense of security and continuity as they progress through the school. The Spirit of Mercy challenges us to reverence the dignity of all.
