Year 13 Compulsory Subjects Studied

All option subjects are dependant on staffing and the number of students opting for the course. All Year 13 students will take Religious Education and five subjects.

ALTERNATIVE ENGLISH (NCEA Level 1/2)
MATHEMATICS: Calculus, Statistics and Modelling, Combined Mathematics (NCEA 1/2)
SOCIAL SCIENCES: Social Studies, History, Geography
SCIENCES: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Applied Science
TECHNOLOGIES: Fabric, Information and Communication, Computing, Graphics
THE ARTS: Art History, Art Painting, Design , Photography, Music and Drama
LANGUAGES: French, Japanese, ESOL (All English as a Second language students will be required to sit an English test to determine their competency in English and will be placed in appropriate courses. Students may also be required to sit tests in other subjects to determine the appropriate course of study).

Homework / Study: The minimum time required, five days per week is 2-3 hours.

  • Homework may consist of:
  • Going over the day’s lessons, making notes
  • Set work in a particular subject
  • A long term assignment which is worked on over a period of time
  • Study of work already completed
  • Preparation for tests / examinations, revision
The Learning Support Department assists students who require it.
Reporting to Parents

Generally reporting to parents occurs as follows:

Term 1 Progress Report
Term 2 Full report
Term 4 Full report

Information and report evenings occur twice a year and are advertised in our weekly newsletter. Such evenings give parents and teachers the opportunity to discuss the progress of the students.
