FINAL Pasifika roots flyer

Talofa lava, Kia Orana, Malo e lelei, Fakalahi alofa atu, Bula vinaka, Taloha ni – Pacific Greetings

The St Mary's College Pasifika Student and Parent Committee warmly invite you to a Talanoa Workshop. The aim of the Talanoa is to support our young people to thrive at school and in their wider communities.

A recent survey found that 75% of Pasifika students at St Mary’s reported feeling stressed, anxious or down. Covid-19 has also added to these feelings for some. The Talanoa workshop is a response to these findings.

We are excited to announce we have been able to secure two of our Pasifika community experts who work in mental health and wellbeing - Dr Monique Faleafa and Dr Karlo Mila. Also, we have Mr Iosefa Enari (Director of Pacific Dance NZ) and Ms Jody Cameron (professional international basketball player and SMC premier basketball coach) joining us for the Talanoa.

They will share information and strategies with students and their families to better manage stress and worry, and enhance their wellbeing so that they can thrive and achieve their goals. Two former students (Nele Kalolo and Lupesina Koro) who are now studying at university, will also share their experiences. Please click here to check out the event programme.

Date - Satuday 18 July (10am - 3pm)
Venue - CM Hall, St Mary's College, Ponsonby
Cost - FREE (admission includes food / entertainment)

We hope you can join us for this important event to support our young Pasifika people. Please RSVP via the following link by Wednesday 1 July - Talanoa Registration.

As this our first Pasifika Roots Talanoa, we are also in need of financial support to help us bring this to life. If you can help in any small way please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Thank you in advance.
