On 28 August, ten lucky Year 11 French students from St Mary’s College had a fabulous time extending their palates and delving deeper into the connection between French culture and food at Le Garde Manger – a local French restaurant. We enjoyed dinner with a number of year 11 French students from St Peter’s College. The event is now in its eighth year and is a highly-anticipated annual event between the two schools.

The students were presented with a myriad of delicious options such as soupe à l’oignon, coq au vin, canard à l’orange and crème brûlée – miam miam! With the backdrop of checked tablecloths, rustic décor, ambient music and French speaking staff, we felt that we were (almost) transported to the heart of a bistro in Paris.

The evening was enjoyed in true French style – filled with convivial conversations over several hours and courses which enabled the two schools to get to know each other well by the end of the night.
