Meet the Makers 2017
A Huge Success!
Our Meet the Makers event held on Saturday 12 August was a great success! The PK Gym was unrecognisable, completely transformed by many senior girls and parents into a colourful street-market theme, with market stalls, gazebos, umbrellas, fairy lights, foliage and of course our wineries, brewer and food exhibitors. John Campbell and Luca Montagni kept the guests entertained, while Dayle Barnes led the auctions.
We were lucky enough to sell 350 tickets to the event, and also managed to sell all of our fantastic auction prizes, with one lucky person off to Rarotonga to stay at the Pacific Resort. The amount raised is being finalised, but should be well over $40,000, which is a fantastic outcome for our new Science Centre.
Thank you to the many volunteers who helped make this event a success, and also a special thank you to our generous sponsors and exhibitors. We look forward to seeing you all again at our next Meet the Makers.
With thanks to our very special Event Sponsors:

In late 2017 we hosted the grand opening of the Mother Bernard Towers Science Centre here at St Mary's College. We thank everyone who supported this special event.
We had more than 250 guests attend on the day, and they were treated to some fabulous speeches, entertainment by our pupils and a tour of the lovely new facility. Of course, this wonderful new building would not be possible without the support of several people, particularly; RCG Limited, Robert Cunningham Construction, Paul Keane, the St Mary's College PTFA and friends in our community.
We are also pleased to announce our new Sister Marcienne Kirk English Centre opened on 25 February 2019. Please click here for more information.
Meet the Makers was very well supported by our parents and wider community again in August 2019. We had well over 320 people attend on the night which was a great result. We wish to thank the amazing parents who went above and beyond to ensure this event was a huge success.
We would also like to acknowledge our event sponsors below and our brilliant exhibitors for sharing their support and helping us raise funds towards the construction and installation of a school playground for our girls.
Thank you to everyone who donated their time, expertise or products to make this a very special event for the St Mary's College community.
Lights, camera, action!
Our students have been hard at work for many months creating the first ever St Mary's College feature film, "Bloom", which will be screened at Hoyts Cinema Sylvia Park!
Film Synopsis - "Bloom" follows the journey of Sienna who has just enrolled at Dalton School of Performing Arts. After only a short time at the school, it becomes apparent to Sienna that not everything is as it seems. With trustworthy friends hard to come by, it is up to her to uncover the truth.
To make a change from doing a student musical, a student writing team developed a film screenplay in late 2016. Directed by Year 13 student Tilly Molloy, and cinematography by Year 13 students Julia Parker and Ruth Soukoutou, filming has occured in many locations during Terms 1 and 2. Music was specially composed and several dances choreographed for particular scenes.
We are proud to confirm our two screenings - Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 August at 6.30pm.
Tickets are limited, and the event is completely open to the public so please click here to purchase yours today!
