Year 12 music student Maretta Brown was recently selected by Auckland Council's "Stand Up Stand Out" competition to record her original song Save Me. Maretta recently took part in a live interview and studio performance, which was featured on RNZ Afternoon.

"Having more exposure on media platforms, such as Radio New Zealand (RNZ) and Pacific Media Network (PMN) was a new but an amazing experience, and it is an honour to represent my school, St Mary's College. To share my God-given talents and to have my original song selected by Stand Up Stand Out (SUSO) 2020, was the most exciting and rewarding part of the journey. This is because my song Save Me, is about having hope and faith in God in times of struggle or hardship. I am extremely grateful for all the love and support from my family, friends, school, and wider community.  As a result of SUSO, I gained a sense of living my dream and to do what I love most – to share my story, my music, and talents. Congratulations Maretta!
